No. 28 ranked Alexei Popyrin’s stunning win at the US Open against the men’s reigning champion, Novak Djokovic, was a massive upset, but it’s only one of many surprises at this year’s tournament, where Carlos Alcaraz and Naomi Osaka are among the many big names who have already suffered defeat. Popyrin’s win against Djokovic has landed him a spot in the fourth round, where he’ll face American Frances Tiafoe, who is currently ranked No. 20, on Sunday.
