Ali Weimer finished third individually to pace the Gophers to a fifth-place finish at the Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Friday in Champaign, Ill.
Weimer, a junior, ran the 6K race in a program-record time of 19 minutes, 25 seconds. Oregon’s Silan Ayyildiz won the race with a time of 19:13.6. Oregon was the team champion with a score of 33.
Weimer’s time beat Bethany Hasz’s record time of 19:36.4.
The Gophers men’s team finished 11th. Graduate transfer Lucas Florsheim was the top Gophers runner, finishing 34th. His time in the 8K race of 23:26.7 tied the program record.
Wisconsin senior Bob Liking won the men’s race in a time of 22:47.3 to pace the Badgers to first place in the team standings with a score of 46.
The NCAA postseason is next for both Gophers teams. They’ll race Nov. 15 in the NCAA Midwest Regional at Peoria, Ill., where Bradley is the host.
