The Emirates NBA Cup is upon us.
The second annual NBA in-season tournament kicks off Tuesday and the Nuggets are the top seed in Group C in the Western Conference. Here’s a look at their schedule in the group state.
- Friday, Nov. 15: At New Orleans Pelicans, 6 p.m.
- Tuesday, Nov. 19: At Memphis Grizzlies, 6 p.m.
- Friday, Nov. 22: Dallas Mavericks, 8 p.m.
- Tuesday, Dec. 3: Golden State Warriors, 8 p.m.
If Denver wins its group, it will advance to the knockout stage. If the Nuggets finish second and have a better ranking than the other two Western Conference second-place finishers, they will advance to the knockout stage.
The tournament runs through Dec. 17 and the semifinal and final games will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Dec. 14 and 17, respectively. Players on teams that lose in the quarterfinals will receive $50,000 each in prize money. Players who lose in the semifinals will earn $100,000 apiece. Tournament runner-up players will get $200,000 each and the championship team’s roster will earn $500,000 apiece.
The Nuggets failed to advance out of the group stage last year, finishing fourth out of the five teams. The Lakers won the inaugural tournament, defeating the Pacers, 123-109.
