A look at the Post Preps Top 10 for Classes 5A, 4A and 3A going into Week 9:

Class 5A

Comment: At some point, Golden Eagles will have to win a close game, right? Right?!?!? This week: vs. Rock Canyon, 7 p.m. Friday.
2. Cherry Creek 7-1 2 W (44-0 at Eaglecrest)
Comment: Bruins have outscored Centennial League competition 130-7 over three games. Pretty good, no? This week: vs. Smoky Hill, 7 p.m. Thursday.
3. Valor Christian 7-1 3 W (47-0 at ThunderRidge)
Comment: Take away one dreadful night at Mountain Vista and Valor’s resume is as good as anyone’s. This week: vs. Fruita Monument, 7 p.m. Friday.
4. Legend 7-1 4 W (42-7 at Fountain-Fort Carson)
Comment: Take away one Columbine field goal and Legend’s resume isn’t too shabby, either. This week: vs. Douglas County, 7 p.m. Friday.
5. Ralston Valley 7-1 6 W (35-34 at No. 6 Columbine, OT)
Comment: Take away one road loss at Valor, and Mustangs have themselves nice little case, too. This week: vs. Denver East, 7 p.m. Friday.
6. Columbine 7-1 4 L (35-34 vs. No. 5 Ralston Valley, OT)
Comment: Take away one failed two-point try vs. RV and … you get the point: No. 3-6 are interchangeable. This week: at Denver South, 6 p.m. Friday.
7. Pine Creek 5-3 7 W (49-8 win vs. Chaparral)
Comment: Eagles get another crack at statement win with Regis Jesuit visiting this weekend. This week: vs. No. 8 Regis Jesuit, 1 p.m. Saturday.
8. Regis Jesuit 5-3 10 W (51-7 vs. Douglas County)
Comment: Freshman QB Luke Rubley’s stat line over Raiders’ five-game win streak: 1,020 yards, 9 TDs on 62.7% passing. This week: at No. 7 Pine Creek, 1 p.m. Saturday.
9. Erie 6-2 NR W (48-13 at Mullen)
Comment: Tigers have won five straight and are closing in on league title in first year in 5A. Looks like they belong. This week: vs. Legacy, 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
10. Fairview 8-0 8 W (35-7 at Brighton)
Comment: Knights have one win over 5A team with winning record. That could grow to two on Friday. This week: vs. Fossil Ridge, 7 p.m. Friday.
